Two construction phases at Hotel Svendborg have ended. New, bright and modern surroundings have been created for approximately 12.5 million kroner at the city's hotel and conference center. Now we can look back on months of construction chaos and construction noise, but where the hotel has also managed to be fully operational.
It is a natural and Nordic style. The cedar tree is repeated in several places. Starting from the well-known wall in the hotel's restaurant, Krinsen. In April last year, construction began. First at the entrance from the parking lot with new facilities, entrance area and smoking area. In September it was finished, and the big stage began with a new reception, lounge area and restaurant as well as an entrance area towards Centrumpladsen.
”"We achieved it, and we are very happy and proud of the result. It shows that if you tackle it right, it can be done. We have rebuilt while the hotel was fully operational. We have always done that. Also during previous construction projects," says Director of Hotel Svendborg, Tom Pelle Jensen.
Guests on vacation or at conferences have been welcomed in a changing environment in recent months. But by involving employees in the process, taking crazy steps, such as covering the entire restaurant with graffiti art by local young street artists, the hotel has managed to get the nod so that guests had a good experience despite the construction.

”"It has been hard. And the employees have pulled a huge load. They should be thanked for that. And we are therefore very proud that the guests have also recognized the effort, as we have been nominated for Conference Center of the Year. It has gone well – in the middle of a renovation," says Tom Pelle Jensen.
Along the way, there has been constant close collaboration with the craftsmen. When, where and how they could be allowed to work on the construction, so that it disturbed the guests as little as possible. A complicated but crucial puzzle that is now coming together.
”"We are looking forward to the final details being in place. Now we can welcome guests in the setting that hotel and conference guests in 2020 demand. It will be really good," concludes the hotel director.
A large restaurant with small nooks, bright rooms and a special place for local produce. A large and inviting reception, which is the guests' first impression upon arrival, with the possibility of workstations and phone charging. And a new lounge area, where, for example, business travelers or conference guests can sit and work in pleasant surroundings, with a good cup of coffee or where the working day ends in soft furniture with a drink from the bar.
Photos are free to use. If you would like more photos of the new surroundings, that is also possible.
