Aeroe is one of Denmark's smallest island municipalities. Approximately 6,700 people live here, spread across a number of villages and in the three port towns, Marstal, Ærøskøbing and Søby. The buses on Aeroe are free for everyone.
Step back in time and experience the historical setting of the workhouse. As the best preserved workhouse in the Nordic region, you will go behind the walls and learn about the attitudes and ideals of the time. See the many different exhibitions and experience the hidden history of Denmark.
The exhibition "The Unworthy" can be experienced from June 21. Here you will get the life stories of 19 men and women and hear about the time before, during and after their admissions to Fattiggården. Exactly in the rooms where they lived their everyday lives.
